Well, I have been VERY BUSY!

I sure would appreciate it if you would check out the video and the description, consider contributing if you can, but most of all, tell anyone else who you think might like the music. There is nothing more gratifying to any performing artist than to know that the art they are pouring their heart and soul into finds an audience that appreciates and enjoys it.

After the show Friday night at the Minstrel Coffeehouse in Morristown, NJ with John Colianni, Bucky Pizzarelli and Ed Laub, I had a late, late dinner, and got a little rest.

The next day it was a grueling twelve hours of driving, setting up, changing, playing, changing again, breaking down, and driving back from a wonderful German Club in Delaware called the Delaware Sängerbund (Schwabische Gemund) where I performed with another group. The food was great, the people were fun, but man, was it tiring!

All day Sunday I could barely move. I still have the last vestiges of my illness, after all, and traipsing around the Eastern Seaboard is not exactly resting! I finally made myself finish up the video for the Kickstarter project, and had a wonderful time (?) trying to get the video transferred, reformatted and loaded onto the site, but it is done and I am happy with the results. Please make sure you tell me what you think of it.

And I did promise at the gig Friday night that anyone who contacts me through the regular website, dianeperryjazz.com will get a free download of one of my songs. Oops, I forgot to mention, if you are a total Luddite, and do not have the ability to get a digital download, I will mail you a CD of one of the songs off my demo. Just go to the site on a nice library computer, send me a message with your mailing address, and put D@D.com as your email address. After all, even though we like to think everybody is “on the web”, it still ain’t exactly true. Even my own Mom has no Internet access.

I have had the most terrible cold, which then turned into a nice mild case of pneumonia, which, as every singer knows, is the BEST way to get ready for an upcoming gig, right?

Well, I am hoping to see you in Morristown this Friday night, but if I neglect to make small talk, you’ll know why.

I have made my initial set lists, but with only two twenty-minute sets, about four tunes each, of course, I have alternates, and alternates for the alternates! I hope you enjoy the show.

Also, my kickstarter project will definitely be launched by showtime Friday, so I can tell people about it. I will put the URL here when it is official, and you can see the cool photo montage video I made with iMovie, my very first one! It is accompanied by one of the cuts off my seven-song demo, the beautiful song Skylark, by the best in the business, Hoagy Carmichael and Johnny Mercer. I hope you feel I did it justice!

I have a very special announcement! On March 4th at the Minstrel Concert Series in Morristown, where I will open for the legendary Bucky Pizzarelli, I will be joined by the amazing John Colianni on piano. John has toured with my hero, Mel Torme, as well as Les Paul and other greats. His amazing technique and superior musicianship is on display on YouTube if you would like to check it out! I am VERY excited!

I hope to be completing my CD this Spring, but in the meantime you can check out some audio from the previous session on the other website, dianeperryjazz.com! I will be starting a fundraising campaign to help me complete the project on kickstarter, a great crowd-funding method. When the project is up on the site you’ll find a link here, on the other website, and video on YouTube. Also, I have just joined Facebook! I know, about time, right! Look me up and friend me!
